Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
TripHunts is a Telegram bot that watches Trip.com hotel prices (and, as a bonus, flight fares) and messages you when something changes. This policy explains — in plain English — exactly what we store, why, and how to get rid of it. We wrote it by looking at our own database schema, not at a template.
What we store
Only what is needed to run your trackers:
- Your Telegram user ID — a number Telegram assigns to your account. We need it to send you alerts. We do not receive your phone number.
- Your tracker settings — the hotel (or flight route), check-in/check-out dates, number of adults, children's ages, number of rooms, the room type if you picked one, and the price you told us you saw.
- Price history for your trackers — the prices we observed while checking, so alerts are accurate and not repeated.
- Your interface language, if you changed it with
/language. - Aggregate counters — e.g. how many people arrived from our landing page. These are totals, not tied to your identity.
What we do not store
- No browsing history, contacts, phone number, or location.
- No payment data — the bot is free and never asks for a card.
- No message history beyond what is needed to complete the current setup step.
How your data is used
For one purpose: checking the prices and availability you asked us to watch, and messaging you when your conditions are met. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third parties involved
- Telegram — the platform the bot runs on. Your use of Telegram is governed by Telegram's own privacy policy.
- Data providers (Apify actors) — to check prices we query Trip.com data through the Apify platform. These queries contain the hotel or route, dates and guest counts — never your Telegram identity.
- Trip.com — booking links in alerts lead to Trip.com and may contain an affiliate tag, so Trip.com knows the click came from TripHunts. What you do on Trip.com is governed by their privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — this website loads its fonts from Google's CDN, which sees your IP address as with any web request.
- Analytics — if enabled, this website uses cookieless analytics (Umami): no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles.
The demo on this site
The interactive tracker demo runs entirely in your browser on randomly generated prices. It stores a single value in your browser's localStorage (which headline variant you saw) and sends nothing personal anywhere.
How long we keep things
- A tracker stops being checked the moment you remove it in
/list, and it retires automatically once your check-in date passes. - Deactivated trackers and their price history may remain in our database for a limited time for reliability and abuse prevention.
- Want everything about you erased? Message us (below) with your Telegram username — we will delete your records.
Your controls
/list— see and delete any tracker, any time./privacy— this policy, right inside the bot.- Blocking the bot in Telegram stops all messages instantly.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update this page and the date above.
